Silver Chanter will be held on the 3rd August 2016

Since its inception in 1967 with the support of Dame Flora MacLeod (28th Chief), it has become an important annual event in the piping calendar. Continuing the traditional association of the Chiefs of MacLeod with the MaCrimmons and their legendary piobraireachd, it is a wonderful opportunity to witness what one commentator described as Scotland’s greatest contribution to world music in Dunvegan Castle’s medieval Keep, the birth place of the piobraireachd.

The invitees to this year are: Callum Beaumont, Angus MacColl, Iain Speirs, Stuart Liddell, Roderick MacLeod and Cameron Drummond. It is the 50th Silver Chanter competition and Iain MacFadyen who has attended all of them, will adjudicate.
