Seasonal Vacancies

Dunvegan Castle & Gardens is one of the most dynamic, diverse and popular multi award-winning 5* visitor attractions on the Isle of Skye. We are looking for enthusiastic and customer focused people to join our existing team and ensure that our 180,000 plus visitors receive our trademark warm Highland welcome for the 2020 season which runs from 1 April to 15 October. You will be a team player, enjoy working in a busy environment and take pride in maintaining high standards of customer service at all times. Castle Ticket Office

As the first point of contact for our visitors, first impressions count. We are looking for people who will give a very warm Highland Welcome to our visitors. With excellent communication skills and the ability to meet the demanding expectations of our visitors, you will be able to remain calm under pressure and keep smiling in the face of our high visitor volumes during the peak season. Cash-handling and touch-screen till operations skills are required for which training will be provided.

These vital positions, as the welcoming face of Dunvegan Castle, require strong communication skills, an interest in Scottish history and people who will actively engage with the high volume of visitors we welcome each season.

MacLeod Tables Cafe – Cafe Manager & Assistant Manager

Experienced in a similar position, you will provide strong team leadership in this hands-on role and bring some bright ideas for providing the best food and service for our visitors to this popular busy cafe. The ideal candidate will be experienced in quality food preparation with high standards of customer care. They will have food hygiene knowledge and appropriate certification, be computer literate and experienced in cash handling and catering administration.

MacLeod Table Cafe – Cook/Baker

As an experienced cook/baker with enthusiasm and a passion for quality food you will be responsible to the Cafe Manager, ensuring ingredients, preparation, cooking, taste and presentation are consistently of a high standard. With an ability to bring new ideas, combining fresh local and seasonal produce, you will play a key role in this popular and busy café. Food hygiene knowledge and appropriate certification is essential.

MacLeod Tables Cafe Assistants

You will pride yourself on the highest standards of customer care. Ideally with a current basic food hygiene certificate, you will ensure the cafe premises are always scrupulously clean and all our delicious freshly prepared food is beautifully presented. Food preparation, cash-handling and touch-screen till operations skills are required for which training will be provided.

Retail Assistants

Support the daily operational performance of the Retail Department team with the purpose of delivering a word class customer service experience to every customer, every time.

With our busy retail outlets at Dunvegan Castle, we are looking for people with a passion for selling our high-quality range of products across our four retail outlets. Cash-handling and touch-screen till operations skills are required for which training will be provided. You will have a natural ability to engage with customers and achieve high standards of work whilst maintaining attention to detail and a friendly, calm and professional manner.

Seal Boat Ticket Office Assistants

Support the daily operational performance of our Seal Boat Shop which includes selling of our high-quality range of products within the retail section of the shop as well as assisting visitors when embarking / disembarking our seal boats. Cash-handling and touch-screen till operations skills are required, for which training will be provided. You will have strong interpersonal skills, project a positive attitude as well as communicate effectively with peers and visitors alike. This vacancy comprises two positions: one from the 1st April to 30th September and the other is a three-month contract during our busy peak season from the 1st June to 31st August.

Boatmen/women

We are looking for marine operatives to join our existing team at one of our most popular and busy visitor attractions at Dunvegan. With responsibility for helming one of our four traditional clinker-built boats with up to 7 passengers on short trips to see the Loch Dunvegan resident seal colony, the ideal candidate will have the required Level II Powerboat licence with commercial endorsements: VHF radio, Sea Survival and First Aid (or acceptable equivalents). Training will be provided.

Parking Attendant/Visitor Facilities Cleaner

We require some extra help to manage the busy castle car park during peak hours and keep our visitor areas spotlessly clean throughout the season. Applicants must have very high standards of customer care and be able to accommodate part-time working seven days per week.

Glenbrittle Campsite Manager (16 March – 30 September)

Voted No.1 UK Campsite by the Daily Telegraph and winner of the ‘Gold Campsite of the Year 2019′ in the Great Outdoors Magazine, we are looking for a seasonal experienced campsite manager who will have previously managed a similar site or worked at managerial level in a similar role. This role is a critical position supporting the wider campsite staff team with overall responsibility for delivering an exceptional guest experience to all our visitors. Often operating front of house, you will be an ambassador for the estate and will be committed to delivering service excellence at all times. Responsible for the full operation of the campsite, retail outlet and café, you will demonstrate inspirational leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and develop the team to contribute to the overall success of the business. Excellent communication and organisational skills are vital for the role together with flexibility in meeting the varied demands of the business that include working in a busy customer-facing environment throughout the season. Practical maintenance-related skills and/or catering experience with an emphasis on quality and achieving consistently high standards of presentation are extremely important. Training and accommodation will be provided to the successful applicants. You will require your own transport for this post due to the site’s remote location at the foot of the Cuillin mountains. Onsite training will begin in early March.

Glenbrittle Campsite Wardens (23 March – 30 September)

Voted No.1 UK Campsite by the Daily Telegraph and winner of the ‘Gold Campsite of the Year 2019′ in the Great Outdoors Magazine, we are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and hardworking seasonal Campsite Wardens with a genuine sense of pride in their work and varied skill sets for next season. You must have some experience in customer service including retail, cash handling and café work in addition to experience of general site upkeep and maintenance. Training and accommodation will be provided to successful applicants. You will require your own transport for this post due to the site’s remote location at the foot of the Cuillin mountains. Onsite training will begin in early March. We offer competitive rates of pay, in-house training, free shared accommodation plus the chance to work with a great team in wonderful surroundings.

Cuillin Coffee Co. Café Baristas (23 March – 30 September)

We are looking for enthusiastic baristas with previous experience of working in a busy café environment preparing a range of espresso-based drinks to join us in our beach-side cafe.

Practical barista experience and latte art skills would be beneficial. You will have the opportunity to grow the brand locally at our iconic island location while working with our own seasonal blend and quality equipment. You will be key to the commercial success and development of these ventures. Food handling and preparation is a requirement of the role and as such a food hygiene certificate would be beneficial. You must be willing to work weekends and be flexible in your hours. A full UK driving licence and your own vehicle are essential for the role. You will be a friendly, confident, self-motivated and trustworthy individual who is passionate about quality coffee whilst looking to enjoy a season developing your skills on the beautiful Isle of Skye.
