Seasonal Vacancies

MacLeod Tables Cafe Assistants

You will pride yourself on the highest standards of customer care. Ideally with a current basic food hygiene certificate, you will ensure the cafe premises are always scrupulously clean and all our delicious freshly prepared food is beautifully presented. Food preparation, cash-handling and touch-screen till operations skills are required for which training will be provided.

Retail Assistants

With our busy retail outlets at Dunvegan Castle, we are looking for people with a strong customer service ethos and a passion for selling our high quality range of products across our four retail outlets. Cash-handling and touch-screen till operations skills are required for which training will be provided.

Seal Boatmen/women

We are looking for marine operatives to join our existing team at one of our most popular and busy visitor attractions at Dunvegan. With responsibility for helming our traditional clinker-built boats with up to 7 passengers on short trips to see the Loch Dunvegan resident seal colony, the ideal candidate will have the required Level II Powerboat licence with commercial endorsements: VHF radio, Sea Survival and First Aid (or acceptable equivalents). Training will be provided.

Visitor Facilities Cleaner

We require some extra help to keep our visitor areas spotlessly throughout the season. Applicants must have very high standards and preferably be able to accommodate part-time working seven days per week.

Maintenance & Marine

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic team player to join our maintenance and marine team at the MacLeod Estate on a fulltime basis. Always calm under pressure, we expect you to be self-motivated, be a good communicator and to deliver results with energy complemented by a sense of humour. A can-do attitude, strong work ethic and clean driving license are essential.

In terms of the skill set required for this position, we are looking for a multi-skilled handyman with a working knowledge of timber carcassing, cladding, first fix carpentry, manual wet trades, stonework and block laying. Rendering and plastering as well as working knowledge of traditional lime mortars is desirable but not essential. On the marine side, we require a Boat Master Grade 3 or Powerboat Level 2 with commercial endorsement for sailing with passengers. If you do not hold any of the above qualifications, the MacLeod Estate will offer training.

Campsite & Cafe Assistants

Glenbrittle Campsite Wardens & Baristas (June – 30 September)

Voted No.1 UK Campsite by the Daily Telegraph a few years ago, we are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and hardworking full-time seasonal Campsite Wardens with a genuine sense of pride in their work and varied skill sets to oversee this popular base camp for the Cuillin mountains. You must have some experience in retail, cash handling and general site maintenance.  Training and accommodation will be provided (suitable for either a couple or friends in shared accommodation) to the successful applicants. You will require your own transport for these posts due to the site’s remote location at the foot of the Cuillin mountains.

Cuillin Coffee Co Baristas (June – 30 September)

We are looking for enthusiastic baristas with previous experience of working in busy café environments and preparing a range of espresso-based drinks to join us on our beach-side coffee bar and coffee van. Practical experience of espresso extraction parameters and latte art would be beneficial. You will have the opportunity to grow the brand locally at iconic island locations while working with our favoured spring lever espresso machines. You must be willing to work weekends and be flexible with your working hours. A full UK driving licence and your own vehicle are essential for the role. If you are a friendly, confident, self-motivated and trustworthy individual who is passionate about quality coffee while looking to enjoy a season developing your skills in the beautiful Isle of Skye, then this is the place for you.

Retail Manager

As one of the largest private sector employers on the island, the MacLeod Estate’s extensive commercial activities range from the castle, gardens, holiday cottages, 5x retail outlets and award-winning campsite to seal trips, a licensed cafe, corporate and wedding events and the Cuillin Coffee Co.

We are looking for a full-time Retail Manager to build on the successful legacy of our outgoing manager by effectively managing our retail operations which comprise 5x retail outlets across the estate and our e-commerce platform which will be launching later this year. You will be a self-motivated team player with solid retail and managerial experience combined with the ability to handle multiple tasks and problem solve under pressure. Head Gardener Maternity Cover

Since 2008, the estate has made major capital investments in the castle gardens with extensive re-landscaping works and new design features which have built up its budding reputation as one of the most important gardens in the Highland region.

We are looking for a highly experienced horticulturalist with the ability to further enhance the castle gardens with a hands-on management style and the ability to lead a dedicated team working in all weathers in a very exposed remote location. The successful candidate will relish a challenge, be a team player and have a proven track record of successfully managing gardens of some distinction.
