Gardener

This full-time post requires an experienced gardener with common sense and a practical approach in all aspects of horticulture to join the existing team and assist the Head Gardener with the development of this garden of national importance. A sound knowledge of plants with the ability to operate a wide range of garden plant and machinery and the desire to undertake physically demanding manual tasks in all weathers using their own initiative and working as part of a team.

Dunvegan Pier Master

Dunvegan Pier Master, part-time post with a salary of £450 per month.

The Pier Master will be responsible for the efficient running of all marine activities on the Dunvegan Pier, acting as the main contact/liaison between the MacLeod Estate and all the Pier users, commercial contractors and misc. vessels that use the Dunvegan Pier facility.

Key result areas include liaising with fishermen, offering practical assistance with the docking of log-boats and other vessels, Pier maintenance and ensuring Health & Safety compliance is maintained at all times.

Knowledge of the local marine environment, current legislation and some practical experience of working on boats and/or with fishing vessels is preferable. Training will be provided.

Groundsman

This full-time post requires someone with common sense and experience in all aspects of garden maintenance and hard landscaping work to join the existing team and assist the Head Gardener with the upkeep of this garden of national importance.

With an ability to drive and maintain a wide range of garden machinery, tools and vehicles, the post holder must be fully capable of undertaking physically demanding manual tasks in all weathers. Working as part of a five-strong garden team, there are no line management responsibilities associated with this post. The Garden dept. has a Head Gardener and Assistant Head Gardener who you shall report to.
