Dunvegan Castle Hosts Hamish McHaggis 20th Anniversary Tour Stop

Dunvegan Castle & Gardens welcomed children’s book character Hamish McHaggis and author Linda Strachan on Saturday, 26th July, as part of a national tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of the popular Scottish children’s series. As one of several landmark locations chosen for the tour, including Glamis Castle, Balmoral, Stirling Castle, the Falkirk Wheel, among others, Dunvegan hosted a lively day of family-friendly activities that drew visitors from across the country and beyond. Children enjoyed meeting the Hamish McHaggis mascot, creating themed arts and crafts, exploring special garden trails, and taking part in a scavenger hunt based on the book Hamish McHaggis and The Skye Surprise. The Hamish mascot was a popular presence throughout the day, touring various areas of the grounds, posing for photographs, and visiting departments across the property to the delight of staff and visitors alike. The event provided a memorable way to celebrate over two decades of Hamish McHaggis, while introducing his world to a new generation, all within the iconic surroundings of Scotland’s oldest continuously inhabited castle.
