Much-Loved Two Churches Walk Reopens with New Path and Woodland Restoration Plans

This week, we were pleased to report that the felling of a section of the much-loved Two Churches Walk commercial forestry plantation, due to the tree disease Phytophthora ramorum, is now complete.

To improve access for our local community and visitors alike, the MacLeod Estate has created a new footpath linking the Two Churches walking trail to the Millennium Field deer gate. We have also invested in new drainage and an enlarged car park for the Duirinish Church of Scotland, which should reduce the number of cars that previously had to park along the main road.

Over the next two years, the Estate plans to replant the entire felled area with a mix of native trees, linking it to the 2021 planting in the Millennium Field and the existing native woodlands at the northern end. In time, this will create a beautiful, continuous stretch of native woodland for everyone to enjoy.

We have left any native trees standing within the felled area to help accelerate the regeneration process. We hope you enjoy the improved access to our woodlands.
