The Tales of the Last Ferryman Arrive at Dunvegan Castle & Gardens

As part of this year’s Skye Bridge 30th anniversary celebrations, we were thrilled to welcome Skye Bridge Theatre to Dunvegan Castle & Gardens for a truly special event on Saturday, 26th April.

Visitors gathered in the Garden Museum, nestled within the Walled Garden, to see The Tales of the Last Ferryman — a powerful and moving performance inspired by real events, legends, and myths, all masterfully woven into a beautifully conceived story. Brought vividly to life by the brilliant actor Llion Williams, the play captivated our visitors during two performances at 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM.

This production marks a return for Llion Williams, who first portrayed this role four years ago during an exploratory outdoor promenade performance through the village of Kyleakin. Now revised for an in-studio setting, The Tales of the Last Ferryman commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Skye Bridge’s opening and the ending of the Skye Ferry service between Kyle and Kyleakin. Through the character of Morgan Mackinnon — the Last Ferryman — the play shares the rich tapestry of the area’s history, blending real events, local legends, and timeless myths into a compelling and emotional journey.

What a wonderful day it turned out to be! The Tales of the Last Ferryman was met with huge enthusiasm — brilliant acting, an engaging plot, and plenty of singing from a lively and interactive audience made the experience unforgettable.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Skye Bridge Studios for bringing this outstanding production to our grounds, and to all the visitors who joined us for this special celebration.

We look forward to welcoming you back for more events this summer at Dunvegan Castle & Gardens! https://www.dunvegancastle.com/events/
