Two Churches Walk Felling

Two Churches Walk Felling

Next week, a section of the beloved Two Churches Walk commercial forestry plantation will undergo felling due to the plant disease Phytophthora ramorum. Ahead of this, our team has been carefully relocating the ‘fairy door’ population that once lined the footpath. We’re inviting the community to re-home these fairy doors in their own gardens—anyone interested can collect them from the stone wall beside the Duirinish Church of Scotland in Dunvegan village.

Once the forestry work is completed in March, we will be replanting the entire area with a diverse mix of native trees. This effort will connect the previous 2021 planting in the millennium field with the existing native woodlands at the north end, creating an extensive stretch of new temperate rainforest for everyone to enjoy. Additionally, we’ll be enhancing the Two Churches Walk by creating a new footpath section to improve accessibility. This project is not only a significant environmental investment but also a community-focused initiative.
