The Tales of the Last Ferryman Arrive at Dunvegan Castle & Gardens

As part of this year's Skye Bridge 30th anniversary celebrations, we were thrilled to welcome Skye Bridge Theatre to Dunvegan Castle & Gardens for a truly special event on Saturday, 26th April. Visitors gathered in the Garden Museum, nestled within the Walled Garden, to see The Tales of the Last Ferryman — a powerful and moving performance inspired by real events, legends, and myths, all masterfully woven into a beautifully conceived story. Brought vividly to life by the brilliant actor Llion Williams, the play captivated our visitors during two performances at 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM.

Carbost Primary and Nursery Win Dunvegan Castle & Gardens’ Giant Easter Egg Competition

Themed “What represents your community?”, the competition invited schools to explore and celebrate the identity of their local area. Each egg offered a unique glimpse into the heritage, landscapes, and values of the island’s diverse communities — from dramatic natural features to cultural traditions and everyday village life. Visitors from near and far were invited to vote for their favourite design, and with over 600 votes cast, Carbost Primary and Nursery emerged as the clear winner.

Estate Team Improves Local Footpath Access for the Community

Last week, the estate's dedicated A-team, worked tirelessly to widen and clear the narrow, overgrown, and muddy public footpath that runs between the village and the castle car park. This vital improvement was made to enhance access for the local community and ensure safer, more convenient passage for pedestrians.

MacLeod Tables Café Reopens with a Fresh New Look

After months of dedicated work, we were delighted to reopen the MacLeod Tables Café on April 1st. To celebrate, we hosted a Community Open Event on April 5th, inviting friends and neighbors to be among the first to experience the newly renovated café. Guests enjoyed free coffee, tea, and pastries, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Now open and ready for the season, we look forward to welcoming you to the new and improved MacLeod Tables Café—whether for a quick refreshment or a leisurely break. See you soon!

Grand Opening of Dunvegan Play-Park Brings Joy to the Community

Dunvegan Castle Donates £4,893 to Local Charities from 2025 Snowdrop Days

On Tuesday, 11th March, representatives from Dunvegan Castle’s gardens and events team had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from four local charities to present a donation of £4,893. This sum was raised through contributions received during our 2025 Snowdrop Days, an annual event that invites visitors to enjoy the beauty of early spring while supporting meaningful community causes.

Join us on the 13th, 15th, and 18th of February, from 10 AM to 2 PM, and experience the first signs of the new season in full bloom. Entry is free, but donations—big or small—are warmly welcomed, with all proceeds going to support local charities.
